HEALTH SYSTEM REFORM

In October 2004 during the health policy breakout session of our fall meeting in New York City, breakout participants asked Oquirrh to get the lay of the land in the health policy field and identify where the Institute might make a positive contribution to advancing the nation's health policy debate.

We took a look at the health policy landscape and found it crowded with players and projects of every description. No role for Oquirrh jumped out at us. Nevertheless, to respond to the interested members of the Oquirrh Club and Governors Board, we scheduled the health policy discussion for the September 2005 meeting and invited Secretary Mike Leavitt and former Governor John Kitzhaber to join us for a stimulating discussion at the meeting. While further support for Oquirrh to join in the health policy debate did not emerge after the fall meeting, you can review our Thoughts on Health System Reform by clicking here.
